SEO FAQS
Here are some of the most common questions we get about search engine optimization—answered simply and clearly to help you understand how it all works.
SEO is tangible work being done to the website that strengthens its foundation and makes it more appealing to Search Engines. As a result, the website ranks higher and is more visible to prospective clients on Search Engines such as Google and Bing.
Any work that’s done on the actual site such as, titles, tags, descriptions, content, website structure, etc., is known as On-Page. Any work not done directly on the website, such as blog writing, link building, social sharing, bookmarking, various content and more is known as Off-Page.
Absolutely! SEO is dynamic. Search rankings and results shift and change. What works today, may not tomorrow. Google is constantly updating and refining it’s algorithms. Also, as competition increases it’s important to stay on top of SEO so your website continues to be relevant. Good websites, are doing SEO constantly to maintain and continue improving their rankings. You may rank for your core terms, but it’s important to rank for secondary and tertiary terms as well.
No one can guarantee exactly where they will rank, but someone’s business is taking up the first page search engine real estate. By doing the right SEO work, at the correct pace, and in the proper manner, clients should expect great results.
If a business provides services nationwide it may try to rank for just the keyword. If it’s a local business it would try to rank for the keyword + the geography. So for e.g., a national chain of plumbing supplies provider would want to rank for ‘plumbing supplies’, while a local store that serves just Washington DC would want to rank for ‘plumbing supplies DC’. Local SEO is intended to get customers who live in the area to support that local business.
Long-tail keywords are highly specific search terms that tend to be longer and less commonly searched than broad keywords. They typically target niche topics or audiences. The concept comes from The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, which explains how there’s demand for almost any product, no matter how specialized. While long-tail keywords may attract less overall traffic, they often lead to higher conversion rates because they reflect more focused search intent.
Google Business Profile acts like a digital storefront for your business. It displays essential details—like your name, address, phone number, hours, photos, videos, business categories, accepted payment methods, and more. These listings are front and center on Google Search and Google Maps, whether someone’s browsing on a desktop or mobile. Because Google gives priority to these profiles, having a fully completed and verified listing is crucial—it not only builds trust but can also improve your local search rankings.

Google Business Profiles (GBP) are meant for businesses that either:
Serve customers in person at a physical location (like a store, office, or restaurant), or
Visit or serve customers within a specific service area (like a plumber, mobile pet groomer, or home cleaning service).
If your business is 100% virtual (no physical location, no local service area), you’re technically not eligible for a GBP listing. Google wants to keep the platform focused on local discovery, not general or national brands.
That said, some virtual businesses have found workarounds—like listing a co-working space or home office (though this can violate Google’s terms if you’re not actually staffed there during stated business hours). So yes, there is some gray area, and navigating it carefully is key. We can help with that.
Google doesn’t usually announce exactly when updates happen, but major algorithm changes tend to roll out every few months—with smaller tweaks happening all the time in between. Our SEO experts track over a million keywords, which gives us real-time insight into shifts across a wide variety of industries. This helps us quickly spot what’s working (and what’s not), so we can adjust your campaigns and stay ahead of the curve.
Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your site, signaling to search engines that your content is trustworthy and relevant. But not all backlinks are created equal. Gone are the days of spammy link-building and black hat SEO tactics.
We focus on quality over quantity—building links from credible, relevant sites that align with your business. This strategic approach not only keeps your SEO efforts safe but also gives you an edge over competitors who only focus on on-page optimization. Strong backlinks can be a game-changer for your rankings.
Writing compelling content for guest blogs is a smart way to boost search rankings. When a site owner sees real value in the content, they’re more likely to publish it on their own blog—which not only reaches a new audience but also creates a quality backlink to your website. It’s a win-win: valuable content for them, and SEO benefits for you.
